Everyone tuned in as The Oscars Awards premiered Sunday, February 24. The populated awards show had tons of surprises, and made some history as well. Many talented actors and actresses were nominated, and some of the amazing movies of the year were nominated as well. Here are some of JaGurl TV’s top 5 BIG wins of the Oscar Awards!

Regina King

Regina King won Best Supporting Actor for her amazing performance in ‘If Beale Street Could Talk.’ This is King’s first Oscar, but she has won other awards such as winning three Emmy awards. Wow! Regina isn’t done leaving her mark yet though.

Mahershala Ali

Mahershala Ali won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in ‘Green Book.’ This is Ali’s second Oscar win. He won his first Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the movie ‘Moonlight.’ Mahershala is on his way to the top for sure.

Spike Lee

Spike Lee happily jumped on Samuel L. Jackson, who was the presenter of his award, for winning his first competitive Oscar for his film ‘BlacKkKlansmen.’ Lee was recognized for his wonderful co-writing for the hit movie ‘BlacKkKlansmen.’

Ruth Carter

Ruth Carter won best costume design for the blockbuster Marvel movie ‘Black Panther.’ Carter made history for being the first African American woman to win an Oscar for costume design for her work in ‘Black Panther,’ according to Los Angeles
Times. You go girl!

Hannah Beachler

Hannah Beachler won an Oscar for Production Design for the blockbuster Marvel movie ‘Black Panther!’ Beachler is the first African American woman to win an Oscar for Production Design. Yes girl!
