Tyler Perry Feeds 5,000 Families in South Atlanta for Thanksgiving

During troubled times, Tyler Perry always finds a way to give back. With the holidays right around the corner, it’s unfortunate that there are many people struggling to put food on the table with the families. Perry contributed to his community by hosting the Tyler Perry Studios #TPSGiving food giveaway, where cars are invited to drive-up and receive a meal.

This year volunteers followed Covid-19 health guidelines and dressed in protective gear to hand out food and gift cards to the first 5,000 cars that arrived. Unfortunately, the giveaway drew thousands, clogged roads, and left many people leaving empty handed.

“Although we wish that we could feed everyone in need, we will close the line at the 5,000th family,” the studio said in an announcement for the event.

It was no surprise that food was gone within two hours with cars lined up for five miles south of downtown Atlanta at one point.

Perry’s charitable endeavors never go unnoticed. From going door to door to hand out Kroger gift cards to paying the debt for Christmas layaways, he has shown time and time again how he has a big heart.

Lines for the giveaway started forming since Saturday. Here is a peek on what Atlanta looked like:
