On May 1, 2021 we celebrated the life of Gianna Bryant, who would have been 15-years-old. Her mother, Vanessa Bryant, honored Gigi by naming the brand “Mambacita”, which she took after Kobe Bryant’s nickname on the court, “Black Mamba.”
“When I thought about how best to celebrate Gianna’s birthday with so many who loved her, I knew it had to be a combination of sharing her bright and fun personality with her sense of purpose and passion that would help make a difference in this world,” Vanessa Bryant wrote on Instagram.
The tie-dye sweatsuit collection’s adult set is priced at $332 and the kid set is priced at $224, which both almost completely sold out in the first 24 hours. As announced by the Los Angeles Lakers, 100% of the proceeds will support the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundations, which was created to make positive changes for young women in sports.
“Gigi was especially motivated to change the way everyone viewed women in sports, and it’s fitting that this capsule represents her values,” Vanessa Bryant wrote on Instagram.
Gigi and her dad, Kobe Bryant, may be gone but they will never be forgotten.
